OLIVIA MITTERHUEMER is a Salzburg-based dancer, choreographer, curator and dance educator. She co-founded Flavourama, one of Europe's leading festivals and platforms for Hip Hop and House Dance, which she continues to shape as its co-artistic director.
Her work bridges street and club dance, contemporary performance and interdisciplinary collaboration. Alongside performing in numerous dance and theatre productions, she develops her own choreographic works and curatorial formats.
Since 2019, Olivia has been co-creating original works including Houseward Bound, Friend.shift, 4 A.M. (co-produced by brut Wien), PUSH (with Offensive Tanz Berlin) and VAKUUM (co-produced by SZENE Salzburg). In 2026, she premiered LOOP, her first fully self-choreographed ensemble work for four international House dancers. Following its 2026 premiere, the production has been presented at ImpulsTanz Vienna and will continue touring internationally with performances in Malmö and Vilnius. Her choreographic practice has also expanded into new contexts, including a Hip Hop choreography for BUZZ Festival set to classical repertoire (2026) and the co-choreography of a production for Mozartwoche Salzburg (2025).
As a performer, Olivia has appeared at festivals and venues including ImpulsTanz Vienna, Sziget Festival Budapest, brut Wien, Palace of Fine Arts San Francisco, Dock11 Berlin and KoresponDance Prague. She has collaborated with Marinella Senatore and has been part of the Toihaus Salzburg productions TON and Rauschen.
Besides her artistic work, Olivia increasingly focuses on curation and artistic mediation. In 2026, she co-curated the Flavourama Europe Qualifier at Tanzquartier Wien and regularly develops participatory and educational formats for diverse audiences.
Teaching is an integral part of her practice. She has taught internationally in cities including Manila, Cape Town, Colombo, San Francisco and Chicago, as well as throughout Europe. In Austria, she has taught at ImpulsTanz, Salzburg Festival, SEAD and the ORFF Institute, and has been invited as a guest lecturer at the University of Salzburg and the Mozarteum. In 2025, she contributed to the research project Tanz Mit! exploring dance, health and social participation.
Olivia's artistic work has been supported through the Performance Scholarship of the Province of Salzburg (2020) and the BMKÖS Start-up Grant for Music and Performing Arts (2022). In 2024, she and Farah Deen received the City of Salzburg's Prize for Art and Culture.

FARAH DEEN works as a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance teacher with a focus on hip hop and house dance in Vienna. In 2006 she founded her association and the dance collective Potpourri and subsequently the internationally renowned street dance festival Flavourama in Salzburg. In 2021 she co-founded the BIPoC collective Team Balsam from the urge of making voices of color heard and amplifying them within the predominantly white society of Austria. With her dance, she moves between the expressive richness of Hip Hop and House Dance culture and contemporary art.
From 2015 - 2020 Deen had performed with Hungry Sharks Company on stages all over Europe, the USA and Sri Lanka. She danced at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London, Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, Sibfest Festival in Romania, Festspielhaus Salzburg as well as KoresponDance Festival in Czech Republic, among others. Additionally she has worked with choreographers such as Simon Mayer, Silke Grabinger, Etta Ermini, Imani Rameses and Robert Carsen.
For her artistic work she received the Grant for Dancers and Choreographers from the Federal Chancellery of Austria and in 2019 the AIR Stipend from the City of Salzburg for her research residencies in New York City. In the 2018 yearbook "tanz" - the magazine for ballet, dance and performance - Farah Deen was named "Bearer of Hope 2018" by Helmut Ploebst. In summer 2022 Farah received the danceWEB scholarship by ImPulsTanz Festival Vienna.
With her own company Potpourri Dance she choreographed and performed the theatre pieces Houseward Bound, 4 A.M. and Friend.shift, which was developed during residencies in Switzerland, Austria, France and Senegal. In 2023 Farah Deen dedicates her artistic research to various traditional dances in Sri Lanka.
In 2024, Farah Deen and Olivia Mitterhuemer received the City of Salzburg's award for art and culture for their year-long work.
